Answer: The flagpole is an inch in diameter. I know that sounds kind of small, and it is. But I have had this pole with a 5x3 flag attached and have had some pretty gusty winds and never had a problem. It gives a little under stress but doesn't seem to be a problem. Overall, I would recommend this product.
Answer: The ball on the end of the flag pole has a 1/2 inch thread. All of the pole-end mounted lights I have found so far have a 1/4 inch thread. The flag pole is great, but I wish I could find a light that would fit on the end of it.

Answer: We use our pole with the slide on sleeve and it does not tangle. You might have to remove the bottom clip (a simple matter of untightning a screw) for your sleeve to be able to slip onto the pole.
Answer: No I don't hear it at all. If it's real windy I hear the flag flapping but never a pole noise.
Question:What size flag should I buy for our two story colonial house? Is 3 x 5 too large?
Answer:My flag is a 3x5 , the flag pole is super great, and would be perfect for your house!! It will hold a grommet or sleeve flag... I love it
